Repeating Pattern Project

Final Patterns

The pattern project focused on using the elements (Shape, Texture/Pattern) and principles (Unity, Variety, Emphasis, and Repetition) to create a visually interesting repeating pattern.

Making sure each square lined up was a very time consuming process, involving a lot of erasing and redrawing. I struggled the most with creating equally sized leaves in the leaf pattern. Professor Kenney suggesting measuring out the size of the leaves. Using a ruler proved the solution to my problem.

Through the repeating pattern project, I was able to practice emphasizing elements in my work while still creating overall balance.

Materials used: Ink pens, Bristol paper
